I love my free zines! The first illustrated noir I've ever read. I believe I recognized the story, but it was way cooler with the Illustrations. They're exhibited proudly on your shelf near a few other noir faves. And that's sweet of you to put Chez Usher in front! Btw, I live 7 miles from the town where Stetson U is located. Is that the same Stetson as the hat guy? I should certainly know.

I wish I knew if that was the same Stetson (John B.?) I’ve got my eye on a couple Stetsons, and they don’t cost much. Might not be the best of the best, but still damned good for the price.

I moved a bookshelf up from my home office to the living room, since I’m giving up the office because I write anywhere. It’s my books, James Lee Burke, James Ellroy, my teacher Rick Barthelme, Jim Crumley, the Hardy Boys, The Three Investigators, and my special shelf for Victor, Sean, you, Al Guthrie and Ray banks. These are the books I want to see every day, and the one’s I want my few guests to see.

The Stetson for sure. It's a quality hat that was worn by cool people before us and will still be cool once we have went the way of the dinosaur.

Look forward to good news about Trooper!

Need to try on the Stetsons. I’ve tried Justin because that’s all I’ve got locally.

If that Twin Cities Book Fair is a huge tit-pulling I'll wager there'll be numerous cancellations in the next 3 months. Experience says that writers become all a-twitter when the announcement is made and sign up, and then cancellations begin to follow.

We'll find out. I just did my first reasonably big fair a couple of weeks ago and thought it was decent. Not enough books sold, but got the zines and my name out there. I'd love to go to the big show, but I'm find with some smaller more personal "events" too.

"An upper-middle-class conundrum: do I buy a reasonably-priced Stetson cowboy hat and call it good, or do I save up my pennies for a year and try for a custom-made cowboy hat next time I’m in Santa Fe?"

Buy a new gun.

I'm happy with the guns I have. I need a hat.

Craft and Theory of Online Snark?

I don't know if I can get enough people to show-up for a reading. I could ask one of the local breweries that also serves Mexican food if they'd want to host and promote.

Anthony Neil Smith's avatar

I'd come to the Library, if that helps. No need for $. My school account would pay me for expenses. Then hit the Mex-brewery after.

Willing to discuss.

Our construction project is on delay so this is more of a possibility. I can look at late October and early November.

Cool. Let’s DM about it. It would be great to see you, and insult you to your face.
